Materials & care
Depending on the variant, lacquered or oiled MDF or oiled real-wood veneer on MDF; optional stainless-steel mounting screws. Acrylic lacquer spray, hard-wax oil and white glue are used in production.
Wood is a natural material. Grain and color may vary slightly from the product images.
Clean with a dry, soft cloth and protect from prolonged moisture and direct heat.
Included & installation
The selected product in the ordered configuration, securely packed and prepared for installation.
- Maximum dimensions 50 × 70 cm and maximum product weight 2 kg.
- Wall-fixing screws and wall plugs are not included. Use fixings suitable for the wall type, substrate and product weight.
- Installation must be carried out by an adult. Keep optional mounting screws and other small parts away from children until installation.

Troisdorf's castle has served several roles, from an aristocratic residence to a town hall and museum setting. Around it lies a city made up of distinct districts. Spich, Sieglar and Friedrich-Wilhelms-Hütte broaden the picture, showing why Troisdorf's identity depends on connections between neighbourhoods as much as on one historic site.
A residence becomes a civic place
Burg Wissem occupies an eastern position within Troisdorf's connected urban area. The complex developed from an aristocratic estate through several building phases. Its components do not belong to one moment or one architectural scheme. The manor house, older service range and later additions reflect changing functions. The surrounding park gives the buildings a setting distinct from the denser streets nearby.
Between 1945 and 1981, the manor house served as Troisdorf's town hall. This change of use brought local government into a former aristocratic residence. Since the 1980s, the building has housed the picture-book museum, with original illustrations and books at the heart of its collections. Public significance continued even as the institution occupying the house changed.
Culture at the urban edge
Further development around the castle introduced interpretation of the town's industrial and urban history. Wissem is therefore more than a surviving fragment of an older estate. It brings historic buildings into contact with later cultural purposes. Art and the history of local work are presented within the same wider setting.
The position of the complex also matters. Streets connect it with the built centre, while the park opens towards a more extensive green landscape. This transition is different from the enclosure of a central square. Buildings, garden space and the open edge of the town work together to establish the character of the site. Its relationship with surrounding land is part of its history, not simply a decorative setting.
Reading the wider town
Spich lies northwest of Wissem, where the railway station provides a reference point for regional connections. Sieglar occupies a southwestern position, with the Kreuzkirche marking a local focus. Routes between these places cover more ground than streets within a single compact old town. They link areas with different building patterns and different relationships to transport. This is an essential part of Troisdorf's urban identity.
